The home office write-off isn’t as scary as you think. Rule #1: You need a regular, exclusive space in your home—could be as small as a desk. Rule #2: It has to be your principal place of business. But thanks to a major tax court case, there’s now an administrative use exception. That means even if you have an office across town, you can still deduct a home office if you use it for admin work.
