Yes — your Roth IRA can own an LLC that builds or buys rentals. But if you’re a general contractor, you can’t build them yourself. That’s self-dealing and disallowed by the IRS.
Hire another GC, let your Roth pay them, and still grow tax-free wealth through real estate. Your Roth is better off investing in what you know — not sitting in a mutual fund.
