The IRS code (Section 62) is clear: any expense incurred to produce income is a write-off against that income. If you make $1,000 in your small business, every legitimate cost to earn it—cell phone, Wi-Fi, a home office, supplies—can offset that income. And you don’t need an LLC or business bank account to start. Just track your expenses in a simple spreadsheet or even toss receipts in a shoebox. Take action first, clean it up as you go, and learn while you build.
