I grew up with very successful parents—but you’d never know it by looking at us.
My mom and dad both drove Buicks. We lived in a small town. We went out to eat one night a week, usually at a restaurant where truck drivers stopped. Nothing flashy. Nothing fancy.
What I didn’t realize until much later was that my parents were actually quite wealthy.
Weekends and evenings were spent cleaning buildings, painting, fixing up properties, and working the land around our house. At the time, it just felt like work. Looking back, it was education. They were teaching work ethic, responsibility, and how wealth is really built—quietly, patiently, and intentionally.
Years later, I learned there was a name for this mindset: The Millionaire Next Door. My parents lived it long before I ever read about it. They showed me that real wealth isn’t about appearances. It’s about assets, discipline, and values passed down through action, not talk.
That lesson shaped everything I do today.
